The Nepalese population in New York City is one of the fastest-growing immigrant groups in the region, nearly tripling between 2010 and 2019 [1]. Nepal is located in South Asia and shares territorial borders with India and China [2]. The Nepalese alone population increased by 103 percent from 3,156 in 2010 to 6,392 in 2015, with New York City being home to 67 percent of New York State's Nepalese population [3]. The United Sherpa Association in Jackson Heights aims to teach Nepalese and Sherpa traditions and protect cultural values, and Nabada Chhetri with Adhikkar is advocating for the NYC Care Campaign, which focuses on improving working conditions and care for immigrant workers.
